Two New AI Institutes Announced September 18
NSF and Simons Foundation launched two AI Institutes to help astronomers understand the cosmos! Through the NSF-Simons AI Institute for Cosmic Origins (NSF-Simons CosmicAI) and NSF-Simons AI Institute for the Sky (NSF-Simons SkAI), researchers will build a new breed of AI-powered tools to find the needles of discovery lurking in vast haystacks of astronomical data.
Both institutes aim to advance the capabilities of AI beyond just astronomical sciences so it can become a more useful tool for all scientific disciplines involving large datasets, sophisticated models, and the iterative process of generating and experimentally testing theories.

AIVO Program: IESP Funding Reminder
Submit your request for international engagement support!
Can your Institute or its researchers benefit from some international collaboration? Roughly $10,000 per Institute is available for meaningful collaborations between your researchers and those in another country. The amount is flexible depending on the significance and value of the collaboration, and the amount of usage of this program’s funds.
There are four programs through AIVO, one of which is the International Engagement Support Program (IESP). IESP supports collaborations with researchers in other countries. Fill out the IESP request form to make your request for support.
Also remember that there are funding opportunities for workshops and SIG meetings too!
